Getting started

Server configuration

Keep FXServer configuration and txAdmin host settings in the right places.

Two kinds of configuration

What you want to changeWhere to change it
Resources, game server settings, game endpointsserver.cfg or its included configuration files
Public server-list name, description, tags, language and images (from 21 October 2026)Cfx Portal
Panel settings, staff, moderation, restart scheduletxAdmin’s settings and management pages
Panel port, host interface, txData locationTXHOST_* environment variables set before FXServer starts

TXHOST_* variables apply to the boot process. Putting them in server.cfg is too late to configure the panel listener.

Public listing metadata moves to the Cfx Portal

Cfx announced that public FiveM and RedM listing metadata will be managed through the Portal starting with its 21 October 2026 rollout. Existing server.cfg metadata may continue displaying during the transition, but editing those legacy listing fields after rollout is not the way to update the public server list.

Before publishing your server, follow the Cfx Portal metadata migration checklist. Server startup settings, networking, resource order and secrets remain separate.

Review the game endpoints

Typical FXServer endpoints use port 30120:

server.cfg
endpoint_add_tcp "0.0.0.0:30120"
endpoint_add_udp "0.0.0.0:30120"

Use the ports allocated by your provider. If TXHOST_FXS_PORT is configured, txAdmin can enforce or replace these endpoint values.

Manage resources

Review the recipe’s ensure entries and resource dependencies before adding more. Use the txAdmin CFG editor and validator to find configuration issues. Keep a copy of the working config before editing it, and restart only when the affected change requires it.

Keep credentials private

Server keys and database passwords belong in protected server files or provider settings. Do not publish a complete server.cfg in support tickets. Replace sensitive values with a clear redaction while preserving the error and relevant non-secret configuration.

Version changes

The txAdmin v8 host configuration uses environment variables. Old txAdminPort, txAdminInterface, and txDataPath ConVars are deprecated. Follow Environment & ports and the upstream reference.
