FiveM for GTAV Enhanced server setup
Choose the correct Enhanced FXServer files, launch txAdmin and audit resources before moving from FiveM Legacy.
FiveM for GTAV Enhanced is not merely a gamebuild switch for a Legacy server. Cfx documents different artifacts, breaking changes, asset requirements and runtime behavior. Treat migration as a new deployment and verify the current Enhanced release channel before opening the server to players.
Download and prepare
- Save a complete backup of the Legacy server and external database.
- Obtain FiveM for GTAV Enhanced server files from the official Server Download path. Do not reuse an old Legacy artifact or assume an existing hosting egg selects the Enhanced build.
- On Windows, install the documented Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable requirement.
- Create separate artifact, server data and
txDatalocations. Do not point a trial instance at productiontxDataor database. - Start the Enhanced artifact in its documented txAdmin startup mode and follow the initial setup. For current Windows Enhanced artifacts, the executable is named
cfx-server.exe, not LegacyFXServer.exe. - Run a minimal compatible recipe and verify the boot logs before migrating a framework.
Changes that matter for admins
| Area | Enhanced consideration |
|---|---|
| Artifacts | Download the Enhanced archive (cfx-server_win_x64 / cfx-server-linux_x64 naming), not Legacy server.7z or fx.tar.xz. |
| Player IDs | IDs may be reused after disconnect; don't use a session ID as a permanent identity. |
| Sync | Non-big OneSync mode and other legacy sync options have been removed. |
| Assets | Use Cfx Alchemist where conversion is necessary; check whether a resource supports stream_enhanced. |
| Voice | Updated voice system; legacy Mumble-based assumptions require compatibility testing. |
| Asset Escrow | At the time of the cited Cfx guide, not yet implemented for Enhanced. Verify status before depending on escrowed resources. |
A recipe being available in txAdmin does not guarantee that all of its framework dependencies support Enhanced. Check each critical resource, inventory, clothing, map, and voice dependency with its maintainer.
Acceptance checklist
- The txAdmin panel loads and the managed server starts without missing artifact files.
- A matching Enhanced client joins; test reconnects and player identifiers.
- Resources show no incompatible natives, missing assets or broken voice behavior.
- Framework database reads and writes work against the test database.
- A rollback path to your working Legacy environment exists.
If you are targeting ordinary FiveM Legacy, follow first-server setup instead.
